Business Information Developer

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Salary: Depending on experience

Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data & Information Service Team working in our Development team.
Your main objective as a Developer will be to design and develop data solutions in order to create management information for stakeholders & colleagues. You will also ensure that data used by the Society which is transferred between internal systems; and transferred between the Society and other bodies is fit for purpose.
As part of the Data & Information Services Team, you will be working alongside other SQL Developers, Testers, and Analysts, as well as colleagues from across the organisation to deliver trusted solutions that meet the Society’s information needs.
Conduct analysis of data and requirements; designing, building and testing solutions
Develop solutions following best practice and departmental standards at all times.
Take responsibility for your own progress, performance and learning
Share knowledge with other members of the department to help improve their knowledge and skills
Seek to continually improve processes and systems
Capable of taking responsibility for all or part of a project, monitoring and communicating progress to relevant colleagues.
Demonstrate a high level of ownership and commitment to the role.

Ideal Candidate

This role needs someone with SQL development experience and good knowledge of developing a data warehouse. They need to be creative, respond well to challenges on a day-to-day basis and be comfortable working with ambiguity.
We are looking for someone who has excellent problem-solving skills, is logical, and has a desire to deliver a great service to our stakeholders, whilst looking to develop themselves. Other experience to include:
- Previous commercial development experience
- Knowledge of T-SQL & Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS and SSRS)
- Experience of design and build of ETL processes
- Experience of data warehouse modelling (i.e. Dimensional Modelling, Enterprise Data Warehouse)
- Experience of working with Cloud solutions (i.e. Azure, especially data and analytics related) would be desirable
- Experience of data analysis (any exposure to analytical tools would be advantageous)
- Exposure to other programming languages (i.e. C#, VB, Java, Python, R) would be desirable
- Good knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle methodologies (experience in Agile would be desirable)
- Exposure to testing and software release management would be desirable
- Experience in business process and requirements analysis
- Knowledge of project methodologies (i.e. PRINCE) would be desirable
